Asbestos Removal

24/08/2017

Due to the removal of Asbestos on Saturday 26th August and possibly Sunday 27th August in the area being refurbished in A Block, under Education Queensland rules, no one is to be on site during this time.

All those who use our facilities are aware of these restrictions and are making alternative arrangements. Only people associated with the removal and those authorised to be on site are to be present. All asbestos removal work will be undertaken by licensed asbestos removal contractors.

This work is undertaken during non school days because during the removal of asbestos containing material no staff or students, following our Department’s asbestos management policy, are allowed to be on site. Our Department’s asbestos management policy also provides, while work is done no one, other than licensed contractors, are allowed to access the buildings and facilities of Somerset Hills State School, (including the oval, tennis court, playgrounds and hall) for the two days of the expected asbestos removal works.

The whole of our school area will remain restricted until a clearance is provided. These precautions will ensure that all students and staff are kept safely away from the area.
